![]() Sprinkle in moats somewhere in your build. If only one or two enemy troops are attacking a moat, it will take FOREVER for them to break through( Trust me, some AI pig castles are just ridiculous when they have like 15 layers of moats). Use this to your advantage!! I don't want to boss any one around and say that a certain build is absolutely the best build, but I personally bee-line enemy troops so that they encounter moats. This means that the enemy must use their troops to take it out. When considering moats, keep in mind that catapults have absolutely NO effect on them. Granted this is only like 2-3 more seconds of travel for them, but its more time for your archers to get shots on them! Every second counts. With this being said, if you place a gate on the top right side of your keep, enemy troops will have to walk all the way around just to get to the entrance of your keep. Somewhere after your second layer, put in a stone gate so troops don't just walk in your castle! Keep in mind the farther troops have to walk, the more shots your archers will get on them. This ensures that troops can't walk in so easily, and gives catapults a harder time to break through. Once you have your first layer of great walls done, I recommend AT LEAST another layer of great walls. Put anything weak in that corner For example Guard houses, ballistae, and smelters. This is why corners are a very valuable asset to you. The algorithm of attacks dictates that troops will go as close as possible to the keep (Usually the X-axis and Y-axis of your keep. Corners are a hard and rare target of an enemy. You have to rebuild it once your attacked and/or expand.įor your entire perimeter of your castle, I suggest putting great towers all around (Put stone walls to fill in the gaps between the great towers.), with one large tower on each side. Generally, MOST AI attacks can't go through three layers of stone with a stone gate around your keep. However, it's sufficent for about one or two attacks. Placing archers on the walls, with pikes in the keep will save you a lot. You can expand to even more layers or even add some towers. It will keep most attacks off you until you're able to get these researched. PLEASE NOTE: If you're just starting out and you do not have any of these, just focus on building a three layer thick STONE wall (At least). ![]() Recommended Research (Not entirely necessary, but helpful!) is: Lots of stone, wood, and gold (for moats) Maxed Defenses (This can be put in recommended, but for a completed castle, this is necessary) However, through experience, I have found that great towers, moats, and guard houses are an absolute must. There are, arguably, plenty of ways of building a good castle. ![]()
